Onboard tales from the rhumbline

The team from Accenture Yeah Baby reported they had settled into the race and planned to stick close to the fleet, however they maintained a position to the east, which seemed to be pay off against the competitors in their division.

The Yeah Baby crew had some excitement just before sunset; a near collision with a semi submerged 5 meter long log, and then a close encounter with a whale which came up for a breathe about 15 meters off our starboard side. As our dinner is heating up, the crew is layering up into some warmer gear as the temperature is dropping fast now the sun has gone down.

Sam Haynes from Celestial reported at 1745hrs last night: "Very nice conditions but very tricky racing. There are a few decisions to be made and it will be interesting to see how the night pans out and where we are tomorrow."

At sunrise, Haynes reported "We played the land breeze and took some shifts into the coast. Celestial is all well and is coming up on Seal Rocks. Hoping the breeze stays! Happy birthday to crew member Dave Palazzi."
