XS Moment

This luxury 44 foot racer cruiser boasts two fridges and a microwave, and is the first of a new series of X Yachts from the design stable of Niels Jeppesen in Denmark. X Yachts sailed this boat in the UK IRC Championships in April 2011 before Ray Hudson purchased it in November 2011.

Hudson has campaigned XS Moment throughout RPAYC’s sailing calendar over the last 18 months with some success including placing eighth in Division 1 of this year’s Winter Series; and seventh in RPAYC’s 2012-2013 Blue Water Series; and sixth in the Short Ocean Pointscore Series. XS Moment has proven to be a quick and good all-round boat. “We purchased the boat as we were looking to have more downwind speed. She’s also quick upwind too but can lack a little bit of pace when she is just off the breeze,” Hudson said.

Hudson debuted XS Moment in the 2012 Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Race and took the boat to Audi Hamilton Island Race Week where she was well-matched against other cruiser- racers including the Beneteau 45 Victoire, whom she beat across the line in two races.

Hudson’s previous boat Next Moment was an X-442 which he campaigned strongly for over five years and his most memorable result was a second in the PHS division of the Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Series in 2008/2009.
