After Midnight

After Midnight

In the 2015 race, brothers Mark and Greg Tobin finished 13th overall for third in Division 2, beating their 22nd overall/sixth in Division 2 of 2014. The same year, After Midnight was second overall in IRC and ORCi in the Brisbane Keppel race, sixth in Division 2 at the Australian IRC Championship, then fourth overall and second in Division 3 and winning ORCi Division 2 in the Hobart. They were not satisfied, because a 68 knot squall drove the boat backwards down the Derwent and arguably cost them the win. The Tobins purchased the modified Farr 40 in March 2014 from John Newbold, who owned her for two years after buying the boat from Ed Psaltis and Bob Thomas. The latter two modified her in 2004 and sailed her as ‘AFR Midnight Rambler’, winning the 2006/2007 BWPS and OPS and the 2009 Gold Coast race overall, a race in which were divisional winners three times. In fact they won every major race on the east coast with this yacht.
