Primitive Cool

Launched in 2009, Primitive Cool then Geoff Boettcher's Secret Mens Business 3.5 gained immediate success by winning the 2010 Tattersall Cup as overall winner of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The boat has had ongoing success as one of the true pedigree ocean racers in all major events Australia wide and also finishing in 3rd place in the high performance Division Z of the 2013 Rolex Fastnet Race UK against more favoured opposition. Since Victorian John Newbold purchased Primitive Cool, she has had a significant impact on the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria's major event calendar and currently holds the Melbourne to King Island Race record. Primitive Cool scooped the pool of wins in the 2015 Melbourne to Stanley Yacht race as well as similar result in the 2015 Geelong Passage Race.

In 2015 the boat placed 4th overall in IRC after having a tough race the previous year where the boat sustained damage following a major knock down. The last Sydney Gold Coast Race that Primitive Cool entered was in 2014 where the team placed 10th on Line Honours. After the long absence from the race the team will be looking to come finish the coastal classic with a good result.
