UBS Wild Thing

UBS Wild Thing has a long list of races to her name with two Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Races, 15 Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Races, three Sydney Mooloolaba Yacht Races, one Brisbane to Gladstone and one Brisbane to Keppel. Under previous ownership she competed in one Brisbane to Osaka, one Melbourne to Osaka Double Handed Yacht Race in 1996 which she won and set the record, which has been maintained until the 2018 Melbourne to Osaka.

Competing in the 2016 Sydney Gold Coast Race, she placed 1st in Div2 under IRC. Geoff Lavis purchased the boat in 1999 and she has been fastidiously maintained since then. UBS joined as sponsor in 2002 and now the boat sometimes is simply referred to as UBS. The boat was given a major refurbishment in 2015, with a new carbon rig with swept back spreaders, re-positiong of the rig 500mm further aft, carbon boom, new sail plan and a full hull and deck repaint. Her appearance belies her years!
