The latest from the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast fleet

The Noakes Sydney Gold Coast fleet is on the move, with Wild Oats X, Naval Group and Chinese Whisper leading the way.

The majority of the fleet, however, currently sits off the coast between Newcastle and Nelson Bay, following a tremendous and picturesque start on Sydney Harbour.

Just a fraction of a nautical mile splits first and second currently on line honours – leader Oats and second-placed Naval Group, with Sean Langman’s crew opting for a slightly wider, more easterly route at present. Track the fleet as they move via the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast tracker here.

The overall honours battle, too, has just started to heat up – with 2018 PONANT Sydney Noumea champion Smuggler currently sitting pretty… but the fleet is hot on her heels. Tony Kirby’s Patrice, Dr Sam Haynes’ Celestial, Chris Care’s Ambition and 2019 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore champion Matt Allen’s Ichi Ban are just a small handful of the IRC candidates commencing their run.
