Secret Men's Business #1

Secret Men's Business #1

Secret Mens Business #1 was designed by Iain Murray and built in 1996 by Bolton Yachts in Adelaide for original owner Geoff Boettcher. It competed up and down the east and south coast of Australia with its best result third in division in the 2003 Rolex Sydney Hobart. SMB was completely upgraded in 2002 with a new MBD keel and swept spreader carbon rig with short footed headsails. A new rudder and wheel steering was added in 2003 allowing optimisation for IRC racing. SMB was purchased by the current owners Rob Curtis, Douglas Snedden and Ross Trembath in November 2006 and was put back into cat 1 and 2 safety and finished in second in Division 1 of this year’s Coffs Harbour Series.

Further IRC optimisation has been undertaken with the addition of a 1.5m bow pole with asymmetrical spinnakers added. The boat will be campaigned at Audi Hamilton Island and will be heading south at Christmas as part of the CYCA’s Blue Water Pointscore Series.
