Shogun

Shogun

Rob Hanna’s latest Shogun was built in Thailand by CMI Builders and launched in June. It is the only Rogers 46 in Australia and one of only three in the world. The boat’s first major offshore race will be the Audi Sydney Gold Coast before Hanna and his crew fly to Cowes in the UK for the 12-17 August Fastnet Race and back to Queensland for the first race of Audi Hamilton Island Race Week.

Hanna previously owned a DK 46, also called Shogun, but found he was out sailed off the breeze. With a lot of the characteristics of a TP52, Hanna believes this boat will excel downwind. Shogun, the third out of the mould, is the first to have a bow sprit added after it was found the design travels too fast downwind for a spinnaker pole.
