AFR Midnight Rambler
2008 marks the 18th year, the winning combination of Ed Psaltis (skipper) and Bob Thomas (navigator), will be together. The duo have sailed together across six boats ranging in size from 30-40ft. AFR Midnight Rambler has been optimised for IRC and achieved multiple divisional wins including a well deserved Blue Water Pointscore Championship in 2006/07, and Short Ocean Point Score champions in the same season. Additionally, in 2007 they placed 1st IRC overall in Gosford to Lord Howe, and 1st in Division C in the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race (2006). One of the duo’s more memorable wins is their overall win in the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
The experienced duo and their regular crew are expected to place well on IRC handicap. An integral part of the AFR Midngiht Rambler crew is Tom Barker , CYCA Ocean Racing Crewman Of the Year in 2007, and a regular crewman on AFRMR. Tom is now moving back into the "afterguard" in recognition of his considerable talent , having been forward hand for the last 4 seasons.
