Shogun

Shogun

Geelong yachtsman Rob Hanna bought this Judel Vrolijk designed 52 Shogun, the former Wot Now, in early November 2009.  Shogun performed well in the Rolex Trophy Series placing third in IRC Division 0/1, following up with a second in IRC Div 1 in the Rolex Sydney Hobart, and taking the honour of being the first boat to Hobart under 18.5m in that year.

Shogun placed fifth in the 2010 Audi IRC Australian Championship, after a third in division at Audi Victoria Week, she was unable to participate in the Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta (round 2 of the IRC Championship) after being dismasted en route to Sydney from Melbourne. A new mast was installed in late March, with Shogun going on to win the NSW IRC Championship and IRC Division 1 at Sail Port Stephens regatta in April 2010. In the third event of the Audi IRC Championship, the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, Shogun finished eighth across the line and fifth overall (IRC) and in the final event, Audi Hamilton Island Race, Shogun again placed 5th in IRC Grand Prix division. In last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart, Shogun finished third overall and second in her division. She is currently fourth in Class A of this year’s Audi IRC Australian Championship.
