Alacrity

Alacrity

Alacrity returns the race after an eight year hiatus and represents Southport Yacht Club, the race finisher. Last competed in 2007, but retired. The Beneteau 447 has also competed in five Sydney Hobarts, the last in 2011, from which Matt Percy also retired when his yacht suffered rig damage. He finished 20th overall and third in Division D the previous year, and in 2012, won the Brisbane Noumea race. The Queenslander is a gifted sailor, competing for Australia at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games as crew for Bobby Wilmot in the Soling class. From there he went on to crew at the 1986/1987 America’s Cup.
