Celestial
Celestial finished 24th overall and ninth in Division 0 in the 2015 Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast race, Sam Haynes having just purchased the TP52 originally known as Glory, then Wot Now, Shogun, Vamos and finally Fomo. Later that year, the Sydney vet placed 29th overall and third in Division 1 in his first Hobart with this yacht, resulting in fourth overall in the Blue Water Pointscore and he finished third in IRC Division 1 at the 2016 NSW IRC Championship. Among others, Celestial will take on eight other TP52s in this race. A few new faces, including Sean Kirkjian, should add some weight to their result. With his previous Celestial, a Rogers 46 (now racing as The Goat II), Haynes won the 2014 Gold Coast race overall, his closest rivals were the much larger Black Jack and Wild Oats XI. Haynes went on to claim the BWPS under IRC and ORCi, of which the Gold Coast is the series opener. He also sailed to 11th overall and second in Division 2 in the 2014 Hobart and third overall in the 2013 race, with a second overall under ORCi.
