Colortile

Colour by name and nature, the Colortile crew from Cronulla Sailing Club can been seen and heard from miles around – they have a reputation of being a very social boat and love celebrating with their fellow competitors after tough ocean races. Warren Buchan, Rear Commodore of Cronulla Sailing Club, and wife Kristy, ensure that fun is a key element aboard this Sayer 44.9, formerly raced as Bashful.

Colortile finished second in Performance Racing category in this year’s NSW IRC Championship and showed promise in last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart finishing 20th overall and ninth in division. Missing from last year’s Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, her best performance previously was third in IRC division in 2012.

Warren Buchan will be hoping for favourable strong tailwinds to get the boat up and surfing. ‘‘Anything over 20 knots means we’ll be beating our handicap...it’s an unbelievable feeling surfing large swells at over 35 km/h in a 44 footer,’’ he said.
