Duende

Duende

Duende has not raced offshore since last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart where she finished fifth in PHS Division 1, allowing crew member Tony Cable to achieve a new milestone 48 Hobart races - the most by any individual.

Damien Parkes, together with his son Nick, campaign this yacht in the CYCA Winter Series where they have achieved two consecutive divisional wins (2012 and 2011) beating other 52 footers such as Quest (now Balance) and Wot Eva–SWD. In this year’s Land Rover Winter Series, Duende finished sixth in division. In last year’s Cabbage Tree Island Race, Duende finished 18th under PHS. In her only other Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race appearance, she finished eighth in IRC Division 1 in 2012.

From the German based Judel/Vrolijk stable, this boat previously raced as Tau Ceramics and Lacoste in Europe, but was modified for Australian conditions and optimised under the IRC rating system.
