Onesails Racing

Ray Roberts returned to the Australian racing scene late last year when he purchased the former Living Doll. Renaming it OneSails Racing, he gave it a distinctive paint job, including a stern emblazoned with ‘Team Hollywood’ (depicting Roberts’ nickname of ‘Hollywood’) amid a scattering of stars, optimising it and adding a new sail wardrobe. In its first major outing, it won Division 1 of the CYCA Trophy in December and finished 49th overall in the Rolex Sydney Hobart, minus one of its twin rudders. In 2011, as Living Doll, it won both the Gold Coast and Sydney Hobart races. Roberts has a good Gold Coast record too. After finishing fourth overall 2007 and winning in 2008 with the Cookson 50, Quantum Racing. The boat was sold and with a canting keel added, has produced wonderful results as Jazz and now Victoire,

In early April, Roberts sailed his TP52, also named OneSails Racing, to IRC overall honours in the San Fernando Race after finishing second on line. Before returning to the Australian racing scene, he won every major event in Asia culminating in his being named 2009-10 ‘Asian Yachting Champion Skipper and Yacht of the Year’. In 2013 he won his fourth Kings Cup, has contested 20 Sydney Hobarts and represented Australia at the Admiral’s and Kenwood Cups and other international events.
